It's almost as if genwun normies are a big chunk of their demographic and that's the main reason game freak tends to pander to them. It's funny that their third attempt of trying something different (this time adding some of that genwun spice with the alolan forms) actually worked out. It's like they learned that you need to drill into people heads that Pokemania was once a thing and you can make bank off of selling people the same pokemon altered and then just shoehorn the real new pokemon on the sideline as you make less and less each generation.
