>>42605401-ingame camera to take pics of pokemon doing dumb shit in the overworld, in lieu of a new Pokemon Snap game
-actual sidequests. Not that postgame afterthought bullshit they give us now, and definitely not the brainless "get me an oran berry and I'll give you a potion & some pokeballs" fetch quests that I'll occasionally see in a hack/fangame.
-gyms rotate their teams, can be immediately rematched just for the hell of it, and they have proper coverage to prevent steamrolling
-instead of being open world right out the gate, the region opens up around the halfway point; more than 8 gyms so the openness doesn't boil down to just choosing to beat Koga before Sabrina.
-every surviving mon getting EXP is fine, but actually balance the game around that. Assume the player is using the mechanics they're given and give the AI some EV/IV buffed mons without going into level scaling territory.
I'd also like overworld puzzles to be more interesting. Instead of just pushing some boulders out of the way in caves, let's maybe chop down a tree in a forest and use the log to form a bridge. Instead of sliding around on ice you need to melt the ice and dive under, or freeze a lake to cross the otherwise un-passable rapids. But this is probably something more fitting for a new Golden Sun game
I hope my long-winded bullet points don't count as sperging out too much.
