No matter how good or bad the game was, people would be calling for the imprisonment of every nintendo employee. It reached critical mass on reddit which, to this day, is completely mind broken by pokemon.
In truth they're perfectly fine games, just unambitious. I like Sun and Moon more. The wild area was a neat idea but is pretty clunky. Despite the shit performance, gen 9 was much better in my opinion.
