>>54279426I like to self insert and get emotionally involved, so I choose boy. I also name every single pokemon I catch and release the mons that I don't use. I also don't let my pokemon evolve until they do something cool like they clutch a key crit in a battle. I also care which pokeball I catch them in, and if they are shiny and what nature they have etc. Basically, pokemon is for roleplay, so at least having my character be male is important for emersion.
