Why would I play Braixen? I do very much love casters in games, but out of the 3 archetypes in most RPGs (that the Kalos starters represent) the stealthy rogue is my favorite followed by the impenetrable wall archetype. Weavile certainly is cunning and roguish and it is my 3rd favorite Pokémon-so I was overjoyed ever since I heard they added it. Dashing around the battlefield, stuns, slows, stealth, devious intellect, underhanded tactics, and generally engineering victory through a combination of long-term strategy and short term lateral thinking. What more could you want? The only thing they missed was their penchant for cooperative hunting and communication. Plus weasels are so cute and wily, and the yokai based on them are really interesting.
I could continue to gush about how amazing Weavile is, but I won't. All I'll say about it is nothing would make me switch off Weavile except Sandile--which is probably too small and would be based mostly on biting--or Horsea another very small Pokémon which doesn't have arms or legs; not great attributes for a fighting game.
As for that scratching that caster role itch-Gardevoir is fun to switch to from time to time, and is a much, much better candidate for that long range glass canon style than Braixen. Unfortunately, there's no Templar-wall style Pokémon for me to switch to. I'd love for them to add steelix, but clearly they are too big. So I'd submit Probopass to be the best inductee. It would be so fun to be a super defensive and slow grappler with anti-magic attributes, magnetic distortion, and electrical conduction. It would have a couple sly moves too, with it's mini-noses to cover all angles and chip damage by shooting iron filling projectiles from its nose--metal snot ball hadoken.
Let's face it though, there probably won't be any more updates
