>>16911037>>16911594The biggest problem is what Clouded said, but it actually can be expanded on. In the case of game characters, at least like 90% of them lack any personality at all. What that leads to is headcanons, and from what you do see of them evolves into something more full of (at least in the case of characters who you are interested in, which are presumably the ones you are looking for fics of anyway). The problem there is that someone else does the same thing, but they come to a completely different conclusion about the character as you. What happens then is that you read their fic and the character seems OOC to you, but it was perfectly in cahracter for the writer. Usually it's not even something you realize, because usually that kind of character building is almost subconscious, it's an even more subtle thing than realizing you dislike someone's story because they didn't follow some specific headcanon of yours, which is also pretty common.
I realized not too long ago that this is why I can't enjoy a single Roxie fic that anyone else wrote, because my personality for her is really thought out and specific and anything that doesn't fit bothers the hell out of me.
