The following Regions (with the exception of Kalos) always made you feel like there was something else you could do as if there was still something you hadn't seen yet.
With so much free space you could actually put a lot of new things into Kanto.
In the Anime there were contests and the battle frontier was put in Kanto. Maybe these facilities would be spread all over the place and you could make it feel a bit more like the Anime. Also maybe a few more islands and tunnels.
Maybe also a range of ships like the MS Anne and they would actually come back after some time.
More side quests in general would be nice
