Okay guys, this is my final take on how the game is going to play out. This will obviously change as we are presented with more information.
We start in the south part of the map in a big but empty town. To the east we can find a trainer’s school and to the north a train station as well as the professor’s lab. To the west there’s a mysterious forest which we will visit but won’t be able to fully explore until much later. Still inside this town, there’s an overgrown cottage that will most likely be an important part of the initial plot. We will be completing some short quests, do little exploration and just learn the basics. Once we are done, we will be leaving on a train heading to the industrial city. We will be presented with a cinematic where we look outside the window of the train and see the big, unexplored plains as well as the tower ruins. (First part of the red line)
Upon arriving to the industrial city, doing some exploration and some short quests, we will face this city’s gym leader. My main guess is that this gym leader uses fire type Pokémon but, at the back of my mind, I keep on thinking that it could also be a fighting or even steel type specialist. After defeating the first gym leader, things start to get interesting. We are presented with a choice, either to go east or west. Both choices lead us to a path through a cave but, end up in different places. If we choose to follow the path that leads west, we will end up having to face a grass type specialist where we can see the image of a legendary Pokémon, while if we follow the path that leads east we will have to face a water type specialist. (Yellow line)
In the end, it matters not which one we choose as we will have to face the other one right after. (Orange line)
Having defeated these three first gyms, we will head back to the industrial city, which can be done by walking or by taking the train in the water gym’s city. (Second part of the red line)
