>>53532829I remember the Mystery Mew Event during Gen 3 and being so happy my Mom was willing to take me to Toys R Us for it. She was surprised how long the lines for it were and that there were teens and even adults there to get Mew, since even at 10, she thought I might be too old for Pokemon.
I remember there was a teenage girl in line behind us and we talked about the ethics of Pokemon duplication and other glitches in the games. While waiting in line, we suddenly heard a giant "UGH!!!!" from the front half of the lines, and it was because a mother had been waiting in line to 'Get her son a Mew' but didn't even have a copy of the game and the staff-member attending that particular line decided to step away and sell her a copy on the nearby register and inform her of how the event worked, causing a delay.
Because my Mom and brothers were with me,but in different lines, were able to get a Mew on every Gen 3 game since there was a 2-game limit. I knew nothing about stats or natures being a kid, but as we were leaving, the girl we had talked to in line stopped to talk to us and asked to see my Mews to see if the stats/natures varied, since she was only able to get one.
I ended up making a ton of clones of that Mew in Emerald with the duplication glitch and would periodically migrate them to later games to do giveaways of them. I still probably have a few hundred on old save files. If you ever find a Mystery Mew being traded online with Bullet Seed (I taught it that before I duplicated it) then there is a chance it's one I copied.
