I'm pretty sure you get some kind of token nudge in RSE, but even if you didn't, there are like half as many towns in Hoenn as there are in Gento, as well as you being able to go back to Rustboro without needing to take the ferry. Here, you have to backtrack through the entire linear region to get back to Snow Soft Town. No hints or reminders or anything at all pointing you needing to go there; if I didn't have meta knowledge by knowing they didn't majorly change the structure of the game, if I had never played RSE to know about Norman, there would be no way whatsoever to know how to get the 5th badge.
