>>18246679>perhaps your strongest workDespite amateur structure, it’s my favorite because it’s most pure. All that follow have external inputs and conform to the continuity’s legacy. C/E was wide open and purely from within.
>James—is deliberately remote/cliche at first because I wrote him like a flower.
>FionaLove Lost is an adopted story; a C/E fan showed me some ideas, we talked aboutthem, decided I would write and he would draw; I did and after 12 pages he didn’t. LOL INTERNET PEEPS. So, while 99% of text and 95% of plot is mine, the primary cast species/names are his. The milotic was already named Fiona. Refusing to change it, I made same-name a motif. (There are two Graces and two Alices so far.)
>orderC/E, Waterlogged, LL started, D/P, NGoN, A/P, OWM. Suggested reading order differs, on my FFnet profile.
>Chapter 8Maybe it’s a case of good-on-paper. Could’ve been worse, but I’ve revised four times and it never much changed so, stet.
>heartlessness of the leagueI haven’t (YET) gotten to say much about League beyond Iwamoto. But, it is a physical combat sport, so while fatalities are (as mentioned) rare, it’s a known risk. Every boxer, race-car driver, and astronaut knows they’re throwing dice when they commit.
>Fiona … remarks really rubbed the salt in.I was happy to have a moment that would keep her in-character.
>I'd expect his PokemonThere are two “cut” scenes between the dinner and Jean being let out in Room 8. I’ve tried for years to figure out how to write them but they never worked so I compromised. One was the train ride back (the foreshadow remains, that comment that Vera would be allowed to ride if she wanted to) and the other between Hal and Jean having a second heart-to-heart. If the right words come to me, they’ll find their way in.
>the mark wanted to leaveI wanted to see if I could write a story. The mark it leaves is a cooperation between it and the reader; thus, that mark differs for everyone.
