You should buy blue, for an exclusive meowth. Meowth is the cutest Pokemon there is, so that's good, and then when it becomes a Persian, it can know thunder, takedown, cut for game progression, and pay day, like its so handy. Normal types don't take super effective damage from much, especially gen 1.
Don't miss out on Persian, get blue. I went red and it was a hassle to get this cat.
