I was grinding up before hand and completely forgot about the rival battle in Azalea which resulted in Paul's death.
The Cuckington loss was probably avoidable. I had little Shrewtina in early to deal with Butterfree, Fremp took out Heracross. I then locked Cuckington into rollout, killed off two and then died to Scyther. Good ol' Keith Beans mopped up afterwards.
Trying to level up a few team members outside of the main 6 for now, so giving myself some options.
