>>49471470the PC data conversion i would say is more important to me as lore than the whole process and nature of monster & item shrinkage considering how useful it seems to be for pokemon users of all sorts, trainers, researchers, breeders, etc. to manage and interface with the monsters in an efficient way. plus theres multiple instances of the devs going out of their way to showcase its place in the world through developers like bill, lanette, bebe, and random NPCs that celebrate what a revolutionary tool it is.
despite these characters and dialogues however i dont think im aware of a really in-depth explanation of how it actually works; i think it has kinda been shown in the anime? but just from my own imagination i would assume the PC has some sort of receptacle for a pokeball or item and is then converted to an energy form of some sort which is then read by the PC network and stored as detailed data. then one could access and rematerialize the data from any connected terminal.
i dont know how else a physical object could get converted directly to data before being converted in an energy like is seen when recalling a pokemon or the laser stuff in the anime, which might also suggest the ball forces monsters into an energy state first and then returns them to a material state at a smaller size.
i feel pretty autistic after thinking through all that.
