it just seems like they threw a grab bag of pokemon on the routes and in the wild area. why is a machoke just walking around in the grass? why is there just a random corviknight flying in circles in a field? there's no theme or rhyme or reason to encounters like there was in older games.

Why didn't Gamefreak advertise the Wild Area as an MMO field?
All the cutbacks to this area actually make sense when you realise you'll be sharing it with dozens of other random people, something which I had no fucking clue was even a feature.

It's just all over the place. Some things are bright and extremely oversaturated, other things are extremely dull, and still more things fall somewhere in the middle. Then all of these things show up in the same shot and it's just a massive mess.

I really like the concept of the Wild Area and hope it's a sign that they're will to make an actual 3D game soon, but with all the reasonable backlash and some nitpicking, I feel like that chance will be lost. They're never going to acknowledge the actual faults of the idea or the game, they're just going to perceive the backlash as people not wanting 3D environments and it's going to be gone completely with the next gen.

With overwolrd encounters being everywhere, it will be impossible for us to do these kind of stuff. And in all honesty, I loved walking into a patch of grass until I got to see every pokémon I could get on that area.
