Are people sleeping on the potential of this year's Charizards?
Once 151 releases globally, we'll have access to Charizard ex which deals 330 for 4 energy, discarding 3 energy. The benefit of it being Charizard is that we have Charizard from Pokemon Go which doubles each Fire energy in play. Theoretically, you could be hitting 330 each turn for a turn attach and a magma basin. This assumes that the discard 3 isn't required to use the attack, which could cause some issues if they make an unfavorable ruling.
By far the biggest issue with playing a deck like this will be the prevalence of Water decks after Paldea evolved, which is where Tera Charizard ex comes in.
Assuming the leak is real (and I do because look how hideous the card is), this card is a good energy accelerator and tech for Water matchups.
It reads:
>Pokepower: Infernal Reign - Whenever you play this Pokémon from your hand to evolve one of your Pokémon during your turn, you may search for up to three basic FIRE energies and attach them to your Pokémon as you please, shuffle your deck afterward.
>Attack: Burning Obscurity – (180 Base Damage) This attack deals 30 additional damage for each prize card your opponent has taken.
Tera Charizard definitely isn’t doing much damage compared to its regular version, but if you’ve already lost a prize or two you’re hitting very good damage (especially if you include some damage-boosting tools).
