I understand that people find shiny Pokemon to be a huge rarity thing, but consider the idea of a region that is chock ful of Pokemon that look exotic. They have appearances similar to their parents, or have variant colors unlike a shiny palette.
Someone like Ming-Ming came across the shinies she did due to luck, but it isn't as if she's the only one in the community with shinies either. There's some people who have a Lurantis with Guillotine, or a Comfey that has the appearance of Christmas tree lights. I feel variants would be a rarer thing to find over a shiny Pokemon, but that's just me.
