so, headed towards cerulean cape until my boys hit the level cap, which is level 27 at the moment. rival was an utter joke - despite his shittalk about how i always lag behind him after the battle, an evolved cain literally solo'd him without its health falling below green. bugsy was also at the cape too, and while i did solo him with cain as well, he had some tricks like a heavily buffed bug/fighting (?) ledian (which did not use a fighting move thankfully) and charti berry scyther.
one thing i don't love about this hack is all the weird dialogue that dates it or is out of place. stuff like the scientist who gives you the dynamax band saying "in this hack your mom doesn't love you", the karate guy who usually teaches mega kick but now gives a macho brace going "do you even smogon", bugsy talking about quarantine, etc. also, for some reason, you're given a snover egg in both pewter and cerulean city...? not sure if that was intentional. def take a grass type that resists ice beam before misty though.
it appears max raids DO respawn. so i'll leave it up to you all: can i get my first mon from them, or can i get them and the first capture on the route? in any case, max raids respawning means i can safely grind money very quickly early game, so i decided to change cain's nature to something optimal (spending 7500 at the pokemart allows you to just do
that, super nice feature) - will likely do the same for the rest of my party.
