So I don't usually go to these threads, but I've been trying out the demo, thought I'd give some feedback.
The map designs near the start of the game are very non-linear for starting pokemon maps, but considering that people new to pokemon won't really be playing this there's not much of a need to make it start out much easier, so this is okay. Though I'm not really looking forward to all the backtracking when I get HMs looking at all the places I can surf, rock smash and strength already.
Pokemon I'm fighting seem to be a fair bit stronger than pokemon in most official games. I'm not sure if it's their stats or something else, but I've been finding myself having to run back to pokemon centers a hell of a lot more than usual even when fighting things below my level. But again, if the purpose is to not make it super easy at the start then this is fine.
Some animations (sand attack, hail) seem to go in the upper right of the screen when they should probably be on the lower right, though you're probably aware of this.
The doors down in caves like pic related that don't lead outside therefore don't have light on them are really easy to miss if you're not looking for them, I'd change them up to make them pop out more.
And my main issue with it: if you're going to have a common pokemon in the wild and that many trainers have, which uses lick a lot in addition to prolonging the amount of turns it stays around for with sand attack, for the love of god put paralyze heals in the first store. I'm getting paralyzed so often by the little guys with rocks around their neck that apparently aren't rock type and I have no way to get around it except making my way back to a pokemon centre, it's kind of frustrating.
Overall though it seems pretty neat so far and I like a lot of the designs.
