So anyway for my hack I have several ideas. I havent planned to do them all, really I need to discuss them first.
>Combining Attack and Defense, keeping the combined special stat
special was originally one stat. I think it makes sense in terms of most pokemon. I know you lose meatshield/glasscanon mons in the process (well sort off, you can still have low hp for glasscanons) but for hacks I dont imagine many people really try to play stall at least.
>making IVs count less
I likr IVs as a source of variation, giving pokemon identities like with random natures and abilities and shinyness, but I think their range is too big.
>making EVs trainable and count more relative to base stats
So my idea here is that you have an option to set which stat a Pokemon should gain in when fighting. You will be able to reach the ev cap in one stat but not more.
>removing levels (somewhat incompatible with above)
So here im thinking combining ev and exp into one thing. You train stats you choose, and they can reach some cap depending on base stats. As you gain in stats you also might learn moves, and you may need to have a certain stat total or high enough single stat to evolve. Its an interesting system I think but it might be harder to balance properly.
