>>53005776It would've been a lot stronger in appearances, but not in execution.
Ash's battles were the only one really planned from the start in the regular schedule at best 2 months ahead, with the screenplay, storyboard and key animations already written out, so the best bet on reallocated resources would've been.
For Screenplays for example we maybe wouldn't have had the COTD sideplot for Semifinals ep1, but instead a more solid buildup between Ash and Cynthia towards the battle, maybe some hooligans or biker gang creating chaos, giving the justification for a shortened Diantha vs Leon match.
Or for the episodes where got to see all the other battles, maybe an improved characterization of the competitors, dependent on the availability of the VAs.
Storyboard-wise is another case in total, as it's essentially defines on how Animators frame the overall image.
You all remember the still PNG of Togekiss getting dragged across and around with the occasional mirroring of Togekiss's frame, right?
Maybe the Storyboard could've made it more aggressive (zip-zap lines, slight shake, blurred visage of Lucario's POV) to highlight the raised speed aspect of Togekiss.
Other examples being the Mega-Lucario vs Garchomp collision in fists. While good on paper, lacks the usual flare from DP, XY or even SM at times. Few camera jumps as each side pushes back and forth in the trade of fists/claws with maybe air pushing out of the swings.
TL;DR: You would get improvement in overall quality, dependent on what was important for Team Kato at the time. Whether that be characterization, Scene building or Buildup and Tension.
