The whole thing's grindy as fuck. there's a reason why Pokemon games aren't designed this way. A goddamn timesink piece of tripe. I'm barely at the first gym and I'm thinking of just dropping this shit show. Should've stopped after the first rival fight. Picked Chikorita and had to grind to level 12 just to have a fair shot at beating an ember/smokescreen spamming cyndaquil. Restart after restart because hax. Burn. Miss. Burn. Miss. Crit! Is this supposed to be fun? Grind or keep resetting until I get lucky? I get a "challenge" can be rewarding in its own way, but there's a right way and a wrong way to do this.
Stadium games? Right way. You and your opponent are on an even playing field (for the most part). No grind. Just your tactics during battle and team building skills. A real challenge. To where you have to play smart and not just dump time (grind or reset) to win.
But if I want to win in Kaizo? Oh hey lemme just over level until I bulldoze everything, or just be under leveled and get shit on no matter what. Where's the actual challenge? Where's the fun?
