Yugi isn't playing turn based, not sacrificing cards to summon stuff like Slifer, Ash is using multiple pokemon at once, using mega, gigantamax, z-move, Yugi is using his millennium powers to take away Gengar's gigantamax form, etc.
So, Ash should be able to use a Master Ball on an opponent that isn't a pokemon in this case. Same way Yugi can randomly draw 4 cards for no reason and use bullshit like his "heart of the cards" hax to summon Holactie
