I made them with the purpose of having a specific type focus kind of like Aqua with Water and Magma with Ground/Fire, in this case Team Thresher prioritizes Grass-types over others. Was tired of only Poison and Dark types getting a bad rap.
Team Thresher's designed around mexican drug cartels or hillbilly meth dealers, etc. With the centerpiece of their criminal operation being a spiky red berry called the Thresher Berry. Thresher Berries are intensely addictive narcotics to both humans and Pokémon, and Team Thresher's cultivation of the plant has led to new mutations in their Pokémon that would be seen in a hypothetical game featuring them. They're basically an evil version of Pokémon Breeders, working towards breeding more powerful drugs and Pokémon for their sinister crimes.
