>>47233714This thing actually occupies a weird spot. Tentacool is one of the last available Water types in Gen 1, is common as sin, in a generation overpopulated with both Water and Poison types.
Funny thing is that it's actually really good! It's Special stat, OP stat in Gen 1, is one of the best in the game, and both it's STABs take advantage (not that Poison has good attacks Gen 1), not to mention it gets Wrap, which is broken.
It's a solid mon. But even if you're picking up a permanent Water team member at this point in the game, even objectively worse Waters, like Kabutops and Omastar, seem waaaay more appealing
