Ford, who's a cool character hampered by minimal, mismanaged screentime, gets the character development he deserves. Lots of insight into his research and thoughts, better, meaningful resolution and growth, and it really just improves on everything to do with the character, his relationships, and the events of the show. Especially those that happened offscreen. His friendship with Fiddleford feels real and his time between dimensions is explained.
It also has a surprisingly touching final send off, and it has a lot of details (like Dipper's real name) and codes ("Rick was here" grafitti included) for hardcore fans to drool over.
