America is the size of Europe twice over. The US is one country because of the circumstances of colonization, its borders have absolutely nothing to do with geography or ecosystem, even the state borders.
From sea to shining sea the difference between somewhere like New York and the Pacific North West is far greater than the differences between England, France, and Spain. If those 3 can constitute individual regions instead of a catch all western europe region America could easily house another region based on the western half of the country.
