So after having played the johto games for quite a bit in both remake and original form and finally trying out crystal after all these years, I have noted a few interesting things be it about learnsets, available pokemon and so on. This thread is not really coherent but I am going to list a few things here while also wishing that other anons partake in the discussion about johto and the earlier version mechanics.
>Only non grindy bug type move thats decent is twinneedle that beedril gets. Other option is the superior megahorn which is locked to Heracross
>While the meganium line has no clear gym advantages, it seems to be the most useful out of the starters, mostly because of typholysion having shit for moves and feraligators spread not fitting its attacks.
>In crystal, the morning encounter teddiursa tears the game open without trying thanks to headbutt being an early tm. Rather interesting because I don't see much talk of this pokemon
>Forgot that wild pokemon can flee because of no safari zone. Shits annoying.
>Jumpluff learns its only learnset grass attack at lvl 44, that attack being mega drain. Forretress learns no STAB moves. Xatu learns its only direct psychic attack at lvl 65.
>Many of the one off pokemon like Stantler and Corsola are actually very good, maybe even one of the best pokemon Johto has to offer unlike these days.
