It's amazing how it slowly accrued a few buffs here and there over the gens (the special split, ever increasing movepool, softboiled, magic guard and unaware, fairy typing and +10 to it's sp.atk) until suddenly it just all snowballed and turned Clefable into a jack of all trade who can fill just about any role in a team and can hard carry multiple games all by itself depending on it's set or ability, in spite of it's poor stats.
It's amazing, really. I used to hate this thing and now it's my favorite pokemon. I love this glorious cosmic pink puffball.
