It means that the anime and merchandise makers are in total control of the franchise, not the game developers. Why do you think they've been making the starters rounder and with bigger heads? Why have the final evolutions been given humanoid physiognomy? Why have they conveniently added enough box legends each generation to make movies of? Why didn't regional variants, a braindead simple idea, not appear in gen V but first in gen VII?
