How long have you played Pokémon?
> Intermittently since 1999 when Generation I was still in its glory days and GSC were just about to come out. Picked up a "second wave" of Pokémon appreciation since 2009 and I started viewing Slowflake's long plays and doing Nuzlocke runs.
How many of your friends play Pokémon?
> At present? None that I know of; the last I've heard of, one of my friends (Joyce) hasn't played her D/P game since 2008. Our relationship largely ceased on grounds of personal matters (involving the death of an older mutual friend of ours back in 2011). I haven't heard from her since.
Outside of your Pokémon group of friends, who knows you play Pokémon?
> I certainly won't admit it publicly, but only a handful of my family members (my immediate family and some cousins) know I play. My sister teases me about it playfully from time to time. There have been a few random strangers who've caught me shiny-hunting during downtimes or on commutes from time to time, but very few of them have said anything. Those that have are amazed that the older Gameboy versions still actually exist.
Are you ashamed of playing?
> At times, especially if there are children nearby; I feel they might think it strange for an adult to enjoy these games, especially since I'm a teacher and all. One of my special needs students I've tutored still loves the fact that I can identify the Pokémon he draws, but I keep my knowledge on the quiet. Still, it's a good time-killer, and seldom random folks actually give a crap about the fact that it's Pokémon; we've got bigger things to worry about anyway, like paying bills and crap.
Favorite Pokémon?
> The indomitable lord of the seas: Gyarados.
