>>51107058I am talking about design intent, sure every Pokemon could theoretically be someone's favorite, people can become to attached to trash like water bottles if they carry them around for long enough, I'm saying they weren't designed with that intent because most of the time they're filling out a quota. Most of the time artists don't really have the freedom to make the designs they love and instead have to come up with a set amount of designs each gen, which have to comply with the existing formula, and fill out the necessary amount of typings, and be relevant to the region's theme, and have to have plush toys made out of them easily, and be animated easily, and have relevant movesets, and the design will have to be in the Pokedex forever etc.
It's clear a lot of the designs were made without passion for a long time now because of so many limitations yet such a high amount of mandatory designs every gen, the artists both ran out of ideas and aren't allowed to make the stuff they might want.
Meanwhile making new Digimon is like "Ogremon but a Mad Max motor monocycle hell yeah let's go".
