GF has flip-flopped on whether they are or not (in my opinion, they're not), but even IF they were, who said they were Gen VII titles? Or that they couldn't tease a next gen Pokémon on a mainlinen game?
Even then, new Pokémon are only introduced on the first mainline, non-remake titles of the generation, and 7's were Sun and Moon, therefore Meltan and Melmetal are Gen 8 Pokémon. Stop denying the truth.
