Its completely natural, encouraged even. Pokemon are both our friends, family, protectors and so much more, so why not get as close with them as possible?
There's nothing "wrong" with having human partners, but everyone knows that human girls are more likely to pass up a decent boy if they think they can do better....meanwhile a Pokemon will be loyal to you to the end of time (and beyond) if you treat them right.
No, I'm not insinuating anything, Its just the factual nature of how things work. Its always been that way.
