>>55841776The sad thing is that anon's ideas aren't objectively bad or anything, I think anyone in the US who didn't follow Pokemon lore closely believed in the data thing, it just makes sense, looking at the Pokemon turn into beams of energy in the anime and get magically sent to a mystical PC box in the games you can freely move them around in.
Pokemon shrinking was a shock to me too, but the canon is the canon, arguing against it because it's "not much of a stretch to say" they become data is just like plugging your ears and ignoring the facts.
I'd say this common misconception is just the fault of gamefreak failing to do enough worldbuilding to explain the PC box in the first place, but then again there's no real logical explanation as to how/why some random 10 year old could have exclusive rights to a ranch of 500+ Pokemon all fed and cared for indefinitely, and it's far, far easier to just turn your head away and ignore it, which is what GF does, which in turn creates anons who just think they become data, because that's the only way you could explain the PC. It's just unfortunate, really.
