I was mainly referring to that mindset, and not the actual style or art you've produced. If you're the guy who drew the hoarding dragon, then I will note that the original request was very convoluted and that a loyal rendition would be exactly as you made it. It's just that it's a bit weird to design it and then go "hey man I was just following the blueprints", seeing how you're free to interpret that concept however you like to make it work better.
As for the design itself,
>>26626329>>26626916>>26627626No opinion on your art style, it works just fine for Pokemon designs. The concept of a hoarding dragon is just difficult in general since the hoard itself is hard to incorporate into the design without making it feel cheap and just appearing out of the blue. Marowak's bone and Timburr & Co may have items that's part of the design, but it becomes more difficult to justify hundreds of pieces of standalone coins, even if it's just spitting it all out again.
So my only advice would be to keep the chest reference, but fusing it to the design rather than merely gluing it on top, perhaps by making its chest (as in, part below its chin) mimicry the opening and lock of an actual chest, while still being a dragon that generally munches on treasures and making it part of itself. The final stage can show more completely what it can use the tresure for, like perhaps a gold coin chain/scale mail, a scepter tail, a crown head? So while its hoard won't be literal, it can still be a hoarder, just using its loot to empower itself rather than just lugging it all around.
