My gf shiny hunts, usually idly while doing something else, i.e. watching something, laying in bed, browsing the internet. It literally doesn't interfere with anything. It's an hour or two of downtime a night, if that.
It's not something I personally find enjoyable but according to her the mindless repetitiveness can be soothing, especially after working all day. And she's always so proud after she gets it, I can't help but be excited with her.
