>>51002473I had a question about the anime and reserves. If I recall correctly, D/P was the only league where Ash used reserves from previous regions. Now I always assumed the main reason he didn't use reserves was to shill pokemon from the new regions, which makes sense from a marketing perspective, and D/P was just a little more soulful and made an exception. But where we are now in the anime, there is nothing new to shill for really, Galar is the most recent and he only has two Galar pokemon on his team. So why did the anime choose to have him not use any reserves for the PWC? It seems like it would have been thematically appropriate since it's a tournament comprised of people from Ash's past journeys. Was there any reason, in-universe or 4th wall breaking, that explains this?
