>>54889980>>54890110The thing about a theoretical Gen I Golisopod is that you would 100% start seeing Thunderbolt run on basically everything that can afford to because it counters Goli pretty hard.
Regardless Goli seemed like one of the most interesting mons to do this thought process with so just going over it's potential match-ups:
>Tauros: In a pure 1v1, Tauros would win most of the time even without TB, but Tauros can't switch-in easily because TB only has a 1% chance to 2HKO>Chansey: BoltBeam wins with about 50% of its health taken off, don't think sets change too much>Snorlax: Most current Lax sets lose to Goli, but running TB would turn most of those match-ups into winning ones (40.7-48.1% on Goli) even with the lower Speed stat>Starmie: FI doesn't KO (does a ton of damage at 78.9-92.8%), wins with back-to-back TB>Exeggutor: FI OHKO, only possible counter is landing a Sleep Powder on switch-in>Alakazam: FI OHKO, only possible counter is landing TWave on switch-in, then getting a paralysis twice, and even then it's only 72.1% chance to 2HKO (lol)>Rhydon: Speed tie, Goli Surf is an OHKO while Rock Slide is 8.4% chance to 2HKO >Zapdos: By far Goli's hardest counter, FI does very little (16.4-19.5%) and TB has a 64.1% chance to OHKO>Cloyster: Likely wins due to Clamp and crazy high Def making Goli rely on Special moves which won't have much effect>Jynx: FI OHKO, only possible counter is landing a Lovely Kiss on switch-in>Gengar: FI doesn't KO (48.2-56.9%), wins with back-to-back TB>Jolteon: FI doesn't KO (46.8-55.2%), TB has 2.6% chance to OHKO>Slowbro: FI + Hyper Beam rip through Slowbro, has to rely on either TWave or Reflect
