The Gardevoir could be marrying you not because they love you, but maybe because they feel like if they say no they wouldn't be treated well or if the community around you both doesn't accept your love and antagonizes you both for your choice. These things would affect your life quite a bit, and likely not in a good way.
Now if you married a Gardevoir who truly loves you and wants to do this, isn't being coerced or manipulated, had the freedom to say yes or no, and you lived in a community that was accepting of your marriage and love. It'd be about the same as an IRL marriage .
