Realistically, there were only two ways of addressing the kiss:
1. Have Serena and Ash hang out in an explicitly romantic fashion;
2. Have Serena and Ash hang out in a platonic fashion;
3. Have Serena and Ash be together in a way that's not explicitly romantic but has undertones that can be read as romantic
There is no way 1 would ever happen
2 is the worst possible outcome
3 is a compromise, and can't be very drawn out or else it turns into either 1 (not going to happen) or 2 (worst outcome)
I liked their meeting scene and thought was both real cute and fitting for their characters, and we also got a good amount of time to see Serena's growth as a person. Anything more than that was never gonna happen so I'm okay with that.
