>>37362028yeh, that's why I always take the middle road when it comes to the Luxray-being-a-Dark-type argument.
Like yes, I understand fully what Luxray is and it definitely does NOT fit as a Dark type, but on the other hand, this is a universe where the designers CONSISTENTLY AND INTENTIONALLY make their monsters colored-coded, so that you can guess what type they are at a glance. Not all of them do, Voltorb for example, but you're going to sit there and tell me that I'm dumb for using a Pokémon's color pallet as an argument for their typing, when color is consistently used to represent typing? No one's saying Luxray should be Dark because it has black fur alone, but it adds a point in its favor, yes.
Kid me just saw the black and ability to learn Crunch by levelup and was reasonably confused why it wasn't one. Lots of people were. And if they literally just added one line in its dex entry suggesting that it's kinda mean, no one would even be debating this. If I were going to make Starmie a Grass type, I'd need to color it green and add some foliage. But it's not remotely stupid to say Luxray looks like a Dark type, because it very clearly does.
