>>53782973I've played it, and enjoyed it quite a lot.
I've cared enough to complete the basic beastiary. (There is like 14k possible fusions, fuck that.)
>graphicsCustomization of your character with enough options, colour clothes and hairstyles. I don't mind the 3d, 2d thing. They even play around with it hiding secrets behind corners using the 3 dimensional world.
>monster designsThey are okay over all. Closer to Persona or SMT than pokemon. They are meant to represent concepts I supose, rather than animals. Some designs are neat, but rather average in general.
>StoryIt's okay. It starts rather quickly, dialogue isn't too obnouxious and you can pretty much explore a large chunk of the world at the beginning. Again closer to something in an Atlus game than Pokemon.
>MusicGets a bit obnoxious with the lyrics sometimes but some battle themes are genuinely nice to listen too. They are dynamic too so the music might change to hype the fight under certain conditions.
>Battle systemThe best part of the game Imo. Type combinations interactions and effects are really interesting amd fun. SE attacks won't necessarily do more damage, but rather they might cause effects on their recipients. Ice attacks will freeze water types for one turn. Attacking an electric type with water or air will make them "conductive" empowering their attacks for extra precision and aoe effect.
Burning a plastic type with a fire attack will change their type to Toxic.
Things like this. It's kept me playing till the end. "Gym leaders" are based around strategies rather than specific types.
>shinies they have different types rather than just cosmetic differences. makes getting shinies an interesting gimick in battle
