Righty, finally got a chance to watch the episode. Gotta say, as a massive XYfan, this was probably one of my favourite episode of Journeys overall, just from an animation and continuity perspective. Its one thing to have the frog show up, it's another thing entirely to actually wrap up a plot point opened by a previous series. So kudos to them for that. Of course, though, it can't be a journeys episode without some big critiques, and mine has GOT to be the resolution. I'm sorry, but it seemed pretty explicit that the Nihilego was basically keeping Mohn captive in that cabin by hiding all the mirrors. It understood the mirrors revealed its true form, so surely it would understand a mirror would unlock his memories. I get on some level it liked Mohn and didn't want to lose him, but the horror element vibes up that point, the music and lighting and framing, really sold this Nihilego as an antagonist force. It's such a minor thing too, but it makes the ending a bit odd. Anyways, a 8/10 episode, feature more of that fight animation from now on.
>>50489592The DP movies have their continuity propping up their quality, but they're otherwise the start of the movies' problem of just throwing legendaries on the screen and hoping that's good enough to constitute a plot. They're certainly not bad, but there's not much to say about them other than "wow, isn't it cool they were a continuous plot line leading up the Arceus movie". Doesn't help that the Arceus movie was really mid and low stakes for the players involved. It's a story about the mad god Arceus, coming to bring judgment upon a humanity that betrayed him, and our stakes are, a small kingdom where we know 2 people and mostly empty farm land and ruins. The Lugia movie, from 10 years earlier felt more intense, like the world was in danger. The whole of creation should've been on the line, Arceus should've felt like a GOD.
