This is still a kiddie IP and it’s not that serious, and 2. because Japan never really does that thing that Hollywood does where they’ll revive a series decades later with the same actors/characters to continue the story. They always cop out by rebooting franchises into alternate timelines so the originals aren’t tarnished. They already kind of did that with the AU Ash trilogy, and there haven’t been any new movies since then. Maybe they’ll bring back main universe Ash and friends in another movie at some point. I don’t think the iconic characters who carried the Pokémon brand for decades are gone forever.
