>>43165934Carantoña is an actual word that fits the move. Caricia is more common and similar but doesn't have the same connotations and it's less appropiate in this context.
No translator would ever "cripple" himself or herself and use words that are universally understood by all Spanish speakers with the same meaning and frequency of use, because that's way harder and unnecessary than you may believe. It doesn't matter if it's dialogue, menus, descriptions or whatever.
I don't know why are we even discussing this. It shouldn't be debatable. NoE's target market is Europe. France's French disregarding Canadian dialects, Spain's Spanish disregarding the myriad Latin American dialects, etc. They are going to localize the games with Spaniard consumers in mind, which is what professionals do most the time.
You're never going to see this kind of discussion among French speakers... and not even English speakers. In fact, Americans love British slang and don't bitch on the internet whenever they hear it in a game or movie. Spaniards don't complain about it either, we understand the existence of dialects and target markets. You may see a lot disliking a translation or dub for being latino, but you'll never see them exclaim something as outrageous as "why isn't it tailored for me".
