Cordy stage is based on literal "sea monkeys" and a Swamp Monkeys. It's eyes are also supposed to resemble swimming goggles.
Second stage plays off the basis of the first stage, but now resembles more of a Proboscis monkey, it now has some fins.
The last evolution is based on a combination of the Creature of the Black lagoon, and a gorilla.
