So you claim that something being optional means it can’t serve as a tutorial. Sprout tower was optional in GSC and therefore, by your logic, can’t be a tutorial. However you claim it IS a tutorial in HGSS. Interesting. The only difference between the 2 is whether or not it is optional. It seems your definition of tutorial is “Any early mandatory part of the game”.
I guess the old man showing you how to catch Pokémon in RB isn’t a tutorial. I guess the dude showing you how catch Pokémon on route 29 isn’t a tutorial. Route 29 itself tho, that IS a tutorial. Teaching the player… uh… it teaches them… how to play the game I guess? And it does this by… making them… play the game? Interesting.
