Really, considering Serperior's contrary makes it a one trick pony despite the bland typing/movepool, I'd have also given Emboar/Samurott some kinda DW equivalent. Not sure for Emboar, but something like Intrepid Sword would've been great for boosting the otter in an almost contrary like fashion.
The theme (aside from world cultures) is that they are bland back to basics mono-types just like Unova itself is a reboot of sorts, until they reach their real power via the DW (Hidden Abilities), which was the main feature of that gen.
