I miss how simple it was when getting a new pokemon game, diamond Pearl come out, it's on the new system the DS, I remember being so weirded I was so used to the brick the gameboy was, it really felt like the next step to the new generation of Pokemon when I got my hands on it.
I liked seeing all the better sprites, gen 3 had some good one's but it still had few awkward looking one's too, although I always hated gen 4 charizard sprite, but a lot of them looked more dynamic and cool, the starters were also pretty neat, and when I accidentally gotthe grass turtle instead of fire chimp I found a new love for grass type starters, playing for the first time and experiencing the split, you always think fire punch would physical but no it was special type, always striked me as odd, so it was nice to add those punches to pokemon like hitmon chan, giving coverage now, and Dark types like absol were actually able to hit things instead of being a complete joke, like were so many dark physical but it was a special type?
I always felt ghost should be Special and Dark Physical.
Now if I go back I play platinum, I was able to get it for cheap luckily, but DP is way slower then I recall, and I've grown more accustomed to it as well, I feel DP would be remembered as fondly with out that last P, but the base games are still fun enough.
